Residential Programme |

History : Discovery Bay from 2003 to 2005
In December 2003 the much anticipated residential home in
Discovery Bay opened. Five young women embarked upon an exciting
development in their lives. The majority of the group had only ever
lived at home with their families. The young women were encouraged to make as many lifestyle choices as
possible whilst living in Discovery Bay, from the meals they
prepared, to how they spent their leisure and relaxation time. They
all did their fair share of shopping, housework and cleaning.
Understandably, there were plenty of disagreements, as you would
expect with any group of people living together. This allowed
relationships in the group to develop with a greater sense of
honesty and awareness of each other needs. The present and the future! Apartments at ¡§PY¡¨ in Chai Wan
In 2006 a new phase in the residential programme began.
Two new apartments opened in Chai Wan giving young adults a real
life-skill experience in independent living.

This year, we moved into a flat in PY, Chai Wan. It takes us 45
minutes to get there from Central. We live by ourselves, with
support staff. Living away from home gives the chance to learn how
to be independent and do things for ourselves in the flat.
We do all the house work and go to supermarket to get all the household things and food. The flat is big; it has three bedrooms and a
large sitting room. We have got some nice furniture in it, which we
chose. Joanne and Suzette share a room, Laurie and Camilla share a
room and Vicky currently has her own room.
PY is nice, it¡¦s beautiful but quiet.

The Nesbitt Centre provides a respite service where service users are given the opportunity to spend a night away from home. This service has been running for the last four years and gives service users the opportunity to experience an environment where they can be self reliant through making a variety of life choices. For example, deciding how they spend their evening away from family and home.
